A community-based exercise program designed for men with Prostate Cancer - TrueNTH Lifestyle Management, that is funded by Movember and supported by Prostate Cancer Canada. This program is currently throughout Alberta and had been testing it recently in other parts of Canada, including Vancouver.
There are 2 x free 12-week exercise programs about to start in Vancouver community centres. These programs are twice per week for an hour and include resistance and cardiovascular training. The programs are delivered by university trained Kinesiologists and are currently being supported by our experienced team of cancer-specialist Exercise Physiologists.
To be eligible to participate, you need to have:
A prostate cancer diagnosis and be greater than 12 weeks post surgery.
Men on 'Active Surveillance' are encouraged to attend.
Men on hormone therapy may be able to participate (depending on their medical history).
Men on chemotherapy will be referred to a more specialized program at this stage.
There will hopefully be more programs staring throughout BC in 2017 and you will get the information regarding these as it becomes available.
